A full month after Soccer Bowl '77 the Sounders hosted Santos of Brazil at the Kingdome in a "Farewell to 1977" and Thank You  match for the Seattle fans. Santos were in the USA to help usher Pele into the world of retirement. The New York Cosmos-Santos match at Giants Stadium was Pele's last match, before over 75,000 fans.

The Seattle-Santos match drew 25,000 to the Kingdome. The Dome was filled with banners from fans thanking the Lads for their run to Soccer Bowl '77.
