Mile High for the "Soun-ers"
Sounders' fans unfurl their banner at Mile High Stadium in Denver, Co. The Pod traveled to Denver to root the lads on in their US Open Cup match with the MLS Colorado Rapids, July 13, 1999. The day was a soccer "double header," as the US National team played Derby County in an exhibition...explaining the red, white and blue.
"It was hot and we were a mile high," is the excuse given by Sounders fan Loretta on the mistake made with the sign here. They spelled the team "Souners," forgetting the "d". As Loretta points out, the team didn't forget their "d" (as in defense) as Seattle played a solid game in losing to the Rapids.
